Pineapples, Limes, and Color Charts

This is an action shot of my pineapples and limes piece. I'm definitely still painting it. The entire class is painting this one, and I'm pretty excited with how it is going so far. I think it's really amazing to see how different people are drawn more towards different colors and saturation. There are no two paintings in the class that look even similar, I would say, but we all used the same reference photo. So with this painting we're working on using different wash methods (direct, indirect, etc.). The limes were supposed to be a wet on wet wash, but somehow I missed the memo and they are primarily direct. Oops. That would explain why I was having trouble with hard edges and whatnot. The pineapples are supposed to be direct, thank goodness. Next up, I'll be posting my workings of the basket that the limes are in and the leaves on the pineapples. I'm hoping this looks stellar when I'm done with it.

Sorry about the crooked picture! Sometimes blogger rotates pictures for me, and I don't want it to, and I know of no way to fix it. Le sigh. Anyways, this is just a picture of the color chart I mentioned in my last post. Yay! And that's it for now.

  1. I am so jealous of your pineapple. It looks amazing. And your color chart looks good to me.
